I’m sure you can all appreciate why we have been a little quiet on here recently, however we thought we’d do a little post to let you know about something new on our menu. CLOSED Tuesday 26th & Wednesday 27th March Arrangements have now been made for Donna’s funeral. The ceremony will take place in the Kingswood Chapel at Worthing Crematorium on Tuesday 26th March at 2pm. We ask those who wish to pay their respects to wear preferably green (Donna’s favourite colour) or bright colours. Once the ceremony has ended we invite you all back to The John Selden to raise a glass in memory of Donna. Family flowers only please. We have set up a donation page to Wadars, a charity very close to Donna’s heart. If you would like to make a donation it would be greatly appreciated. As many of you may have read on our previous posts, we announced the devastating news that Donna had passed away suddenly and very unexpectedly. Losing someone so integral to our business and our lives has been an immense challenge for us all. In the face of this deep loss, all the family have shown incredible strength and in particular my daughters made it very clear that they wanted to honour her memory by keeping the tearoom thriving, and with Mother’s Day approaching, they felt it was a fitting tribute to open our doors on that day. I want to take this opportunity to express my deepest gratitude to them and to all of you, our valued customers, for your unwavering support during what has been an incredibly difficult time. Your messages of condolence, your understanding, and your continued support mean the world to us. To all the staff at Swanbourne Lodge who worked this weekend we could not have done it without you, thank you from the bottom of my heart. To everyone that offered to help I thank you. To my daughters: You have done your mother proud. Your strength and determination are a testament to the love and strength she instilled in you. We know she is watching over us, filled with pride and love for the incredible women you have become. As we navigate the coming weeks and months, we ask for your patience and understanding. I’d just like to take the time to thank everyone for their kind words. It has been a very difficult few days but reading all of your lovely comments has warmed our hearts and shown us just how loved Donna was. Whilst we are still grieving we feel reopening Swanbourne again would have been what she’d have wanted. We kindly ask that if you are visiting us over the coming weeks that you bear with us. It will never be the same, but we will do our absolute best to live up to her reputation. We will reopen our doors on Tuesday 5th March at our usual time of 9.30am. Our normal food service will be limited until we find our feet again. In honour of Donna, we as a family have decided to go ahead with our Mother’s Day bookings. If you have booked a table we will be in touch this week to reconfirm your reservation. Please be mindful that there will be staff working who have just lost their Mum, staff who have just lost a Grandparent and staff who have just lost a friend. It is with deepest regret that we have to inform you that Donna passed away early this morning. We are understandably devastated. For those of you who knew Donna she adored her family, her dogs and her customers. Swanbourne will never be the same without her.
